A woman who was seriously injured in a road accident near the Agricultural University of Dharwad and was undergoing treatment at SDM Hospital and Medical Research Center was declared brain dead. Her family decided to donate her organs and save 3 lives.
48-year-old Kamalavva Kalgeri of Ettinagudda village has become an inspiration to society by donating her organs and saving the lives of three people.
One Kidney was transported in Zero Traffic to KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital where it was transplanted to a patient suffering from kidney failure.
The other kidney was transplanted to a patient at ASDM Hospital, while the liver was sent by air to RR Nagar Sprash Hospital, Bangalore.
The husband and three children of the brain-dead woman were counseled and they agreed to donate her organs so that 3 lives could be saved.
