Differently abled and English Channel swimmer Master Rajesh G. Shinde & Eklavya awardee Master Raghavendra Anvekar are selected in the Indian Swimming Team to participate at the 16th ASIAN PARA GAMES 2010 to be held from 12th December to 19th December 2010 at Guangzhou, China. Yesterday late night the Indian team flies to china from Bangalore International Airport.
Master Rajesh G. Shinde has so far won 10 International Medals at various International Competitions apart from 42 gold medals at the National Competitions. Recently he had represented India at the commonwealth games. In the year 2008, July Rajesh successfully crossed English Channel from England to France with a time of 14 hrs.46 mints. He was honored with Audrey Scott Award for the Youngest Successful English Channel Swimmer for the year 2008 by British Government. Master Rajesh G. Shinde is working as a Sports Assistant at Vishveshwaryya Technological University.
Master Raghavendra R. Aanavekar has so far won 18 International Medals apart from 43 goldmedals at the National competitions. His latest achievement was Three Silver Medals and One Bronze Medal at IX IWAS World Games for Physically Handicapped held at Bangalore, India during 22nd November to 2nd December 2009. For his excellent contribution to the Sports Karnataka Government honored him with prestigious ‘EKLAVAYA AWARD’ for the year 2009-10. At present Raghvendra is studying in RPD College, Belgaum.
Both these swimmers have been supported by Shri Suresh Hundre, Polyhydron Group and encouraged by Rtn. Avinash Potdar, Mr. N.R. Jagadale, President Karnataka Swimming Association, Mrs. Maneck Kapadia, Mrs. Lata Kittur, Smt. Shakutai Paranjape and Rtn. Basavraj Vibhuti. Both these swimmers are members of Swimmer Club Belgaum and Aquarius Swim Club Belgaum and practicing at Rotary Corporation Sports Academy’s Swimming pool under the watchful eyes of swimming Coaches Mr. Umesh G. Kalghatgi, Mr. S.R. Sindia, Mr.Sudhir Kusane, Mr. Prasad Tendlokar & Mr. Anandeshwar Patil.
