Today, the Belagavi Technology Companies Association (BeTCA) took a significant step towards advocating for the technological advancement of Belagavi by submitting a memorandum to MP Jagdish Shettar. The memorandum was presented during a dialogue program with the office bearers of the Chamber of Commerce and industrialists in Belagavi held at the Foundry Cluster.

The memorandum highlights Belagavi’s potential as a burgeoning hub for innovation, entrepreneurship, and the establishment of technology-based startups. Under the mission “Beyond Bengaluru,” BeTCA aims to position Belagavi as the next tech hub of Karnataka.

BeTCA underscored the importance of leveraging Belagavi’s unique strengths, including its strategic location, skilled manpower, and supportive academic institutions, to attract investments and propel economic growth through technology in the region.

Mr. RK Patil, President, BeTCA, expressed optimism about the memorandum’s reception, stating, “We believe that Belagavi has all the ingredients to emerge as a leading technology hub in the region. With the right policies and support, we can accelerate the growth of technology-driven enterprises and contribute significantly to India’s digital economy. Taking IT/BT to tier 2 and tier 3 cities is crucial for fostering balanced regional development and aligns with the Government’s initiatives of Beyond Bengaluru. Belagavi possesses all the necessary elements for this transformation, with numerous well-established companies thriving. What is essential now are the right policy decisions, similar to those that catalyzed the growth of the IT sector in Bengaluru.”

Key requests highlighted in the memorandum include:

1. Establishment of a State-of-the-Art IT Park: BeTCA has urged the government to allocate land and resources for the development of a modern and feasible IT park in Belagavi. The current infrastructure is inadequate and requires revitalization to attract investments and nurture technological advancements effectively.

2. Initiatives to Attract IT Companies: To stimulate growth in Belagavi’s IT sector, BeTCA proposed several initiatives like appointment of a Group A officer who would serve as a liaison between startups, IT companies, and the government, advocating for their interests at the secretariat and facilitating smoother interactions. BeTCA also seeks allocation of slots for its members at various national and international tech summits and expos. This platform would enable Belagavi’s technology firms to showcase their capabilities and attract potential investors and collaborators on a global stage.

Mr. Hitesh Dharmdasani, Member, BeTCA further added “Products and services from Belagavi are making a global impact, reaching over 20 countries. Annually, members of the association absorb more than 100 engineering graduates, contributing significantly to local employment. With an impressive annual revenue of 600 crore and a robust growth rate of 55% year-on-year, Belagavi’s technology sector is poised for even greater achievements in the global marketplace.”

Belagavi has all the ingredients to emerge as a leading technology hub outside Bengaluru. The association looks forward to collaborating closely with Honorable MP Shri. Jagdish Shettar, other elected representatives and stakeholders to implement actionable strategies outlined in the memorandum. By harnessing Belagavi’s technological potential, BeTCA aims to position the city as a beacon of innovation and entrepreneurship on the national stage.

During the program, MP Jagdish Shettar engaged in discussions, listened to the concerns of the industrialists, and promised to address the issues by bringing them to the attention of the relevant officers and ministers. He also assured quick solutions to the problems faced by the industrial sector in Belagavi.

The event was attended by MLA Shri Abhay Patil, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Shri CC Hondadakatti, Chairman of Karnataka Light Employment Shri Sachin Sabvin, President of Belgaum Light Employment Bharatiya Nitin Landge, Joint Director of DIC Shri Satyanarayan Bhat, and other prominent industrialists.
