A 15-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by three individuals, including two minors, at a resort on the Belagavi city’s outskirts approximately a week ago. Police have arrested two of the accused, while the third, identified as the son of a police officer, remains at large.
The incident came to light after the victim complained of stomach pain upon returning home, prompting her mother to take her to a hospital where the assault was revealed.
According to police, a case was registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigations indicate that one of the accused, Sakeeb, booked a room at the resort. One of the minors, who is a friend of the victim, reportedly took her to the resort where Sakeeb and the two minors allegedly committed the crime.
The case, initially registered at Tilakwadi police station, was later transferred to the Market police station by Police Commissioner Iada Martin Marbaniang.
The third suspect, A3 in the POCSO case, is reportedly the son of a police officer and has been absconding since the case was filed. Authorities are actively searching for him.
