In a major boost to religious tourism and local infrastructure, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat has announced the approval of a development project for the renowned Sri Renuka Yallamma Devi Temple in Saundatti, Belagavi. The project, sanctioned under the Pilgrimage Rejuvenation And Spiritual Heritage Augmentation Drive (PRASHAD) scheme, comes with a budget of ₹18.37 crore.
The temple, a significant spiritual destination for devotees across Karnataka and beyond, will undergo a transformation aimed at enhancing visitor experience. Planned developments include a Pilgrim Arrival Centre, a cafeteria, and a first-aid centre, ensuring better facilities for the thousands of devotees who visit the temple each year.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat took to social media to confirm the news, stating:
“Today, our Ministry of Tourism has approved the development project of Sri Renuka Yallamma Temple in Saundatti, Belagavi, #Karnataka under the PRASHAD scheme. At a cost of ₹18.37 Crore, the temple will be equipped with modern amenities like Pilgrim Arrival Centre, Cafeteria, First Aid Centre & more, which will greatly benefit the large number of devotees visiting the temple.”
The initiative is expected to not only improve the pilgrimage experience but also boost religious tourism in the region, drawing visitors from across the country. With this project, the Sri Renuka Yallamma Devi Temple is set to become a model of well-planned religious tourism infrastructure.
