A shocking theft of ₹27.41 lakh has been reported at Mahalakshmi Building on Congress Road, Tilakwadi. The incident came to light when the house owners returned from a family wedding to find their home ransacked.
Dattaprasad Deepak Kolvekar, the homeowner, complained to Tilakwadi police station. According to the police, Kolvekar and his family had left for a wedding in Bailhongal on December 19. Taking advantage of the empty house, thieves broke through the main door and entered the premises.
The burglars targeted the bedroom on the first floor, breaking into the safe and making away with valuables. The stolen items include 311 grams of gold jewellery valued at ₹21.77 lakh, silver worth ₹4.80 lakh, cash amounting to ₹80,000, a CCTV camera worth ₹4,000, and a DVR, making the total loss ₹27.41 lakh.

The theft was discovered on Friday evening when the family returned home. The Tilakwadi police, along with a fingerprint expert and a dog squad, rushed to the scene to investigate. However, the burglars had taken the DVR of the CCTV system, leaving no footage of the incident.
A case has been registered, and further investigations are underway. Police are working to trace the culprits and recover the stolen items.
