The Ganesh Visarjan procession in Belagavi, which stretched over an incredible 32 hours, concluded on Thursday at 1:05 AM with the immersion of the Ganesh idol of the City Corporation. The procession, which began on Tuesday at 5 PM from Hutatma Chowk, set a new record for its duration.

The entire city was on alert during this marathon event, with police forces, Corporation staff, HESCOM personnel, and others working tirelessly to ensure smooth proceedings. The massive size of some idols caused additional delays, as navigating through the city’s streets took longer than usual.

This year, 386 idols were immersed, contributing to the extended procession time. The increasing number of idols and the limited number of immersion ponds available for use are believed to be factors behind the longer duration. Despite the challenges, the people of Belagavi came together in celebration, ensuring a peaceful and orderly immersion.
