A 34-member delegation from the Belagavi City Corporation will leave for Indore on a five-day study tour from November 16 to 20. The team, which also includes four pourakarmikas, will travel by air from Goa.
The visit has been organized under Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, and the Corporation estimates the total expenditure to be around ₹30 lakh. The tour will be led by Health Officer Dr. Sanjeev Nandre.
The delegation includes:
- 4 cleaners
- 2 supervisors
- 13 health inspectors
- 2 junior engineers
- 1 executive engineer
- 1 assistant executive engineer
- 2 environmental engineers and others.
Selecting the pourakarmikas for the tour posed a challenge for the Health Department, but four newly recruited workers from both North and South zones have been chosen. For some of them, this will be their first-ever flight experience.

During the tour, the team will study:
- Solid waste management systems in Indore
- Sewage treatment facilities
- Door-to-door collection mechanisms
- Waste segregation models
- Indore’s hour-to-hour cleaning schedule
Last month, a group of corporators had also visited Indore. Although the opposition corporators boycotted that tour, the Mayor, Deputy Mayor, Standing Committee members, and others participated. After returning, Mayor Mangesh Pawar, Deputy Mayor Vani Joshi, and Arogya Standing Committee Chairperson Lakshmi Rathod shared insights on replicating Indore’s cleanliness model in Belagavi.
Following this, some corporators — including Nitin Jadhav — initiated cleanliness activities in their wards inspired by Indore’s model. However, it was decided that the corporation’s health officials and staff should personally inspect the systems in Indore to implement reforms effectively.
This upcoming study tour has been organized for that purpose.
