The Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) on Wednesday presented a ₹92.3 lakh surplus budget for the financial year 2026–27.
The Corporation has projected total receipts of ₹442.54 crore against an expenditure of ₹441.62 crore, leaving a modest surplus on paper.
The budget was presented by Standing Committee (Taxation, Finance & Appeal) Chairperson Rekha Mohan Hugar in the presence of the Mayor.
💰 Where Will the Money Come From?
The backbone of BCC revenue continues to be property-related collections:
- ₹8,500 lakh – Property Tax
- ₹755 lakh – Penalties & Property Transfer Fees
- ₹989.9 lakh – Building Permissions & Development Cess
- ₹1,100 lakh – Sale of Vacant Properties
- ₹975 lakh – Solid Waste Management Cess
- ₹400 lakh – Trade Licences
- ₹500 lakh – New UGD Connections
In addition, grants form a major chunk:
- ₹322 lakh – State Finance Commission (SFC) Fund
- ₹6,264 lakh – SFC Electrical Grants
- ₹2,100 lakh – 16th Finance Commission Grants
- ₹169 lakh – Scrap Sales
- ₹150 lakh – Road Cutting Compensation
The dependence on grants continues — a trend seen year after year.
Solid waste management and cleanliness dominate the expenditure side.
- ₹3,825 lakh – Outsourced Cleanliness Services
- ₹1,100 lakh – Salaries of Permanent Civic Workers
- ₹500 lakh – BCC Contribution to CITIIS 2.0 (SWM Upgrade)
- ₹400 lakh – Scientific Waste Management
- ₹50 lakh – Streetlight Maintenance
Stray dog management also gets allocation:
- ₹210 lakh – Sterilisation & Shelter Construction
Development allocations include:
- ₹2,700 lakh – General Development Works
- ₹200 lakh – Protection of Open Spaces
- ₹135 lakh – Park Development
- ₹200 lakh – UGD Connections & Community Halls
