The Karnataka government has informed the High Court that the accused in the Belagavi woman assault case has been arrested. Additionally, the local police station is ensuring constant vigilance to guarantee the safety of the victim.

The state has filed a progress report providing details of the further investigations conducted and the compensation paid to the victim. Last month, the victim was reportedly beaten, paraded, and tied to an electricity pole in Belagavi after her son allegedly eloped with a girl.

During the hearing of a suo-motu petition, a division bench consisting of Chief Justice Prasanna B Varale and Justice Krishna S Dixit stated that the majority of the investigation had been completed. This includes the recording of statements, and the authorities are in the process of submitting a final report under Section 178 of the CrPC.
