BELAGAVI CENTRAL GST celebrates seven years of GST

Speaking on the occasion of the celebration of the successful seven years of GST administration in the nation, Shri. Dinesh P Rao Pangarkar, Principal Commissioner of Central GST, Belagavi, hailed the role of Industry and Tax administration for the success of the historical change in tax administration by the introduction of GST and also its stellar and seamless success in the last Seven years. The function was organized by Central Tax, Belagavi Executive, Audit and Appeals Commissionerates at KLE Centenary Convention Hall to commemorate the Seven years of GST.

12 officers of Central GST were honoured for their exceptional service and contribution to the success of GST. Major General RS Guraya, Vishisht Seva Medal, Commander, Junior Leaders Wing, Infantry School, Belagavi, was the Chief Guest. Speaking on the occasion he hailed the tax reforms and stated that the department is providing economic security to the nation as Armed forces are providing the security and freedom to the Citizen and both are striving for security and prosperity of the nation. Shri. Amarjeet Singh, Commissioner (Appeals) & Shri. Arokia Raj Additional Director General, DGGI, Belagavi also spoke on the occasion.

Shri. Keith Machado, Secretary of Chamber of Commerce, Belagavi, Shri. Veeranna Murgod, Vice Chairman of ICAI Belagavi Branch also spoke on the occasion and lauded the efforts of the department in implementing the tax reforms and welcomed the Amnesty scheme announced in 53’d GST council meeting.

Shri. Dinesh P Rao Pangarkar, Principal Commissioner, Central Tax, Belagavi, presiding over the function, acknowledged the overall role of various representatives of Trade and industry, CA association, TRP association in support of successful implementation GST. He stated that during its journey of 7 year, GST law has evolved and mitigated several issues faced by the taxpayers through proactive steps. He assured the taxpayers that their grievances about compliance of tax laws will be looked in to and will be resolved at the earliest. He informed that the Commissionerate’s revenue for 2023-24 was Rs. 13,573 Crore, which is Rs. 144 crore more than the previous year. Major industries from Steel, Cement, Mining, and Sugar such as M/s JSW Steel, M/s NMDC, M/s Kesoram Industries etc. are operating in the jurisdiction of this Commissionerate and contributed the most. Besides a huge number of traders and other manufacturers have also contributed to the record GST collection. He stated that during the fiscal year, the Belagavi GST Commissionerate took up various steps to facilitate taxpayer compliance like extensive interaction with members of the trade bodies, listening to problems, issuing directions and resolving them, facilitating trade and industry, ensuring timely availability of working capital by expeditious sanctioning of eligible GST refunds.
