The corporators of the Belagavi City Corporation are all set for another study tour—this time to Indore. Scheduled soon after the Diwali festival, the tour aims to study Indore’s successful cleanliness model and solid waste management system.

This will be the second study tour of the year for the corporators, who had earlier visited Chandigarh in January. The upcoming visit is being organized by the Health Department, with a budget allocation of ₹60 lakh under the Swachh Bharat Mission. Officials confirmed that the funding has already been approved, eliminating the need for separate clearance from the state government. The delegation is expected to leave for Indore on October 26.

While the Chandigarh visit was hailed as a success, residents have pointed out that none of the lessons learned there have been implemented in Belagavi over the past nine months. Previous study tours too have shown little tangible outcome. Citizens now hope that the Indore visit will inspire concrete action toward improving Belagavi’s cleanliness and waste management.

The final itinerary is being worked out, including travel arrangements, which—like the Chandigarh tour—will be managed through MSIL, the state government’s agency.

In the past, corporator study tours have been held to Chandigarh, Shimla, Panaji, and Pune. Last year, a separate Indore visit had been proposed for the Health Standing Committee under the chairmanship of Shrishail Kamble, who had been particularly keen on the idea.

    • Why u r going so far to learn cleanliness, if u r so serious about it u may just have a glimpse of udupi city u shall learn some civic sense from them,
In the name of tour u r only swallowing the money . There wasnt any need to construct a subway for at dist court, coz advocates are toooo educated to use it rather if it was constructed at central bus stand many illetrate people would have used it.

  1. Cleanliness is a common sense. To know it our corporators prove that they have no brains. Greedy to enjoy at our expense. What a shabby news to read. Disgusting if they go.
Please use that money in cleaning and repairing the roads. PLEASE.

  2. Wow so corporators have to study CLEANLINESS?! Embarrassing. Merely an excuse to have a trip and shop at taxpayer expense. The city is dirtier than what it was decades ago. From what aspect can one say its a Smart city? It’s become a village now. What can one say when uneducated people become nation leaders what else can one expect?! Every profession requires a bare minimum education degree except politics. It is time that people start voting for educated people and not ones who promise freebies, establish statues and focus on religion when the real issues are to end corruption, cleanliness in its true form not just PR , education , health an infrastructure. Help the needy by paying fees not by giving reservation seats. What kind of docs will those become who don’t qualify based on merit but on reservation?!
