The South-West Monsoon in Belagavi district has so far ended on a surplus note, with the district recording 595 mm rainfall against the normal of 476 mm, marking a 25% excess for the June–August 2025 period, according to data from the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC).
Month-wise Rainfall Performance
- June 2025: The district received 217 mm rainfall against a normal of 146 mm, registering a 48% surplus.
- July 2025: Rainfall fell short with 165 mm against 191 mm, a 13% deficit.
- August 2025: The month revived the monsoon with 213 mm against a normal of 139 mm, a sharp 54% surplus.
Taluk-wise Highlights
The performance across taluks has been uneven, with some areas facing significant deficits while others witnessed heavy surpluses.
- Highest Surplus:
- Khanapur led with 1915 mm rainfall against 1525 mm normal, recording a 26% excess.
- Soundatti and Yargatti also stood out with 76% and 79% surpluses, respectively.
- Hukkeri recorded a 52% surplus with 438 mm rainfall.
- Highest Deficit:
- Bailhongal saw the sharpest shortfall with 390 mm against 451 mm, a 14% deficit, and especially poor rains in July (–59%).
- Belagavi taluk recorded 787 mm against 935 mm, a 16% deficit, pulled down by a –45% July performance.
- Kitthuru also reported a –11% shortfall, while Mudalagi saw the worst individual monthly deficit at –92% in July.
