Belagavi is gearing up to host the Karnataka Legislature Winter Session, tentatively scheduled from December 9 to 20 this year at Suvarna Vidhan Soudha. Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker, UT Khader, has instructed officials to ensure thorough preparations, emphasizing the need to avoid any complaints or disruptions during the session. Final dates are expected to be confirmed soon.

During a preparatory meeting held on Friday at the Suvarna Vidhan Soudha in Belagavi, Khader stressed the importance of smooth logistics for the Chief Minister, Ministers, and MLAs attending the session. He urged officials to provide systematic arrangements for accommodation, meals, and security for the entire entourage, including ministry officials, staff, drivers, and police officers.

Khader also directed measures to manage crowd control and traffic around the Suvarna Soudha, calling for CCTV cameras to be installed at key points, including protest areas, for continuous monitoring. He highlighted the need for cleanliness, especially given the large number of public visitors, including schoolchildren, who come to observe the proceedings. Special provisions, such as shaded waiting areas for children, were also discussed.

Chairman of the Vidhan Parishad, Basavaraj Horatti, proposed cultural programs from different districts to be held daily, prioritizing artists from neighboring areas. He also called for uninterrupted internet service during the session and suggested that lounges be arranged in hotels where ministers and MLAs will stay. Additionally, Horatti requested a plan for the construction of MLA residences and reliable water supply at Suvarna Soudha.

District Collector Mohammad Roshan informed attendees that committees for accommodation, food, and security had already been formed, and meetings were underway to finalize preparations. He assured that suitable lodging, meals, and security would be arranged for all attendees, including ministers and officials.

For police personnel, DCP Rohana Jagdeesh mentioned that around 5,000 officers and staff were deployed during the last session.
