Belagavi Airport — will see a notable boost to its summer schedule from 29 March, with two carriers adding or resuming key services and another increasing frequency. The moves mean travellers from North Karnataka will get faster access to Mumbai’s two airports plus a direct link to Indore, while existing connections to metros such as Bengaluru, Hyderabad and New Delhi remain in place. IndiGo and Star Air have published/announced these schedule changes.

What’s being added / resumed (effective 29 March)

  • IndiGo — Navi Mumbai (NMIA) ↔ Belagavi (IXG): IndiGo will operate a new daily service linking Navi Mumbai with Belagavi as part of its NMIA summer schedule starting 29 March. Bookings are open.
  • Star Air — Mumbai (BOM) ↔ Belagavi (IXG): Star Air will resume its Belagavi–Mumbai operations from 29 March (announcements from the airline/MPs and Star Air social posts). This restores a much-requested direct link to Mumbai’s main airport.
  • Star Air — Indore ↔ Belagavi: Star Air’s new Indore–Belagavi service (three times a week) is part of the carrier’s March additions and will provide a direct Central-India connection to IXG.
  • IndiGo — Hyderabad (extra frequency): In addition to the new Navi Mumbai link, IndiGo has added capacity/frequency on the Belagavi–Hyderabad sector for the summer schedule.

Why this matters
The combined effect is to restore and strengthen Belagavi’s connectivity to western and central India (Mumbai/Navi Mumbai and Indore) while shoring up existing connections to south and north India. Industry and local officials have welcomed the change because Mumbai is a major transit, business and medical hub for the region — and a resumed direct service reduces travel time and road travel dependency.

How many direct connections will IXG have once these start?
Based on current scheduled services and the March additions, Belagavi will have at least eight direct destinations once the new services start. The network (direct routes) will include:
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mumbai (BOM), Navi Mumbai (NMIA) and Indore.
