Belagavi mourns the loss of one of its brave sons, Mahesh, a soldier from Iranatti village in Gokak taluk, who tragically died in a hill collapse while on duty in Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, on December 14.
The Army conducted a recovery operation and retrieved his body. On December 17, Mahesh’s mortal remains reached Iranatti village. At Sambra airport in Belagavi, DC Mohammad Roshan paid homage to the fallen soldier.
Mahesh’s final rites were performed in his hometown with full state honors, and attended by grieving family, friends, and residents.

The tragedy left the community heartbroken, especially as Mahesh had gotten engaged just two months ago, and his wedding date was already set. His untimely demise has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his loved ones and the community.
