Girish Hosur, a 1996-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer from Khanapur taluk, Belagavi district, has been appointed as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
Hosur brings with him a rich blend of administrative and field experience. He has earlier served as Deputy Conservator of Forests in Belagavi, playing a key role in strengthening forest administration in the region.
In Karnataka, he has held prominent positions including Secretary to the Chief Minister and Commissioner of the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region Development Authority (BMRDA), where he contributed to major planning and development initiatives.
At the national level, he has also served as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Higher Education), further adding to his governance credentials.
His appointment is seen as a significant recognition of his experience and is expected to bolster policy implementation in the social justice sector.
