BJP MLC CT Ravi was arrested after allegedly using objectionable language toward Women and Child Welfare Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar during a heated session at Suvarna Soudha Belagavi. Following the incident, Minister Hebbalkar, visibly distressed, left the Legislative Council in tears and filed a formal complaint with the Speaker.
An FIR was registered at Hirebagewadi police station under sections BNS 75 and 79 for obscene remarks. The arrest led to dramatic protests by BJP leaders at Suvarna Soudha, who alleged that the government failed to protect their members.
The incident unfolded during a contentious session, during which Congress and BJP members clashed over alleged remarks by Union Minister Amit Shah, sparking protests from both sides. Amid this uproar, CT Ravi reportedly directed offensive comments at Minister Hebbalkar.

BJP supporters staged a protest on the steps of Suvarna Soudha, chanting slogans like “Jai Bhim” and “Ambedkar Zindabad,” as police moved in to detain Ravi. Security personnel faced resistance as BJP leaders blocked the police vehicle, resulting in a tense standoff.
Despite the chaos, the police successfully apprehended Ravi and transported him under tight security. The episode has further fueled tensions between the Congress and BJP during the last day of the legislative session in Belagavi.
