On receiving information about a black substance found on the statue of Krantiveer Sangolli Rayanna at Macche village, police officers and staff immediately rushed to the spot and registered a case at Belagavi Grameen Police Station (Crime No. 47/2026 under Section 192). CCTV footage from the evening of 18/02/2026 to the morning of 19/02/2026 was thoroughly examined. No person was seen approaching the statue or throwing any object.

The stain was first noticed at around 7:04 AM on 19/02/2026, and no stain was visible on the previous evening.
Samples were collected from the statue, the nearby road surface, and from a leaf of the tree situated above the statue. These were sent to the Regional Forensic Science Laboratory (RFSL) for analysis.

As per the RFSL report, all samples tested positive for plant resin. The substance initially suspected to be ink has been confirmed as sticky resin that had fallen from the tree above the statue.

There is no evidence of any miscreant involvement. CCTV footage also confirms that no individual threw any substance at the statue.
The matter has been scientifically examined, and it is clarified that the stain was caused by natural plant resin and not by any anti-social element.
