Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has delivered a substantial gift to MLAs across all political parties this Makar Sankranti, announcing a ₹10 crore grant for each legislator to boost constituency development. He assured MLAs that orders for the “immediate release” of the funds would be issued promptly.

“In the upcoming budget, I will provide more grants,” Siddaramaiah reportedly told legislators during the announcement.

This move comes from dissatisfaction expressed by BJP leaders during the winter session in Belagavi last year over delayed fund releases. While the grant has been welcomed, some legislators have deemed it insufficient for large-scale development projects.

Addressing these concerns, Siddaramaiah urged MLAs to make the most of the current allocation and submit proposals for additional funds by February. He further assured them that additional funding requirements could be reviewed and accommodated in the 2025-26 budget.
