The State Cabinet has approved the allotment of one acre of land at Hindlaga (Belagavi Rural constituency) for the construction of a new Congress Bhavan. The land, located in R.S. No. 189/1 of Hindlaga village, will be allotted at just five percent of the government guidance value, offering substantial relief to the party’s local unit.

The property will be transferred to the Congress Bhavan Trust (Registered), Bengaluru.

Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting on Thursday, Law and Tourism Minister H.K. Patil said the proposal had been pending for several years. “The demand from local party workers and the organizational requirements of Belagavi Rural made this decision essential. The new Bhavan will serve both the Hindlaga community and our grassroots workers,” he noted.

Currently, the Congress district office operates out of the RTO Circle in Belagavi city, serving as the primary venue for party meetings. However, the absence of a dedicated facility for rural units has long been a challenge. The proposed Congress Bhavan in Hindlaga is expected to fill this gap by functioning as a hub for rural meetings, organizational activities, training camps, public outreach, and discussions on social concerns.

The upcoming building is expected to house an auditorium, meeting halls, designated office spaces for party workers, and secure document storage rooms. Party leaders believe the facility will play a crucial role in election preparedness and in streamlining interactions with rural citizens.

The government is expected to expedite the land transfer process, after which construction will begin.
