The Finance Standing Committee of the Belagavi City Corporation on Friday decided to lodge a complaint with the Urban Development Department over the delay in issuing a fresh tender for collecting parking fees at the Bapat Galli parking lot. It was also resolved to take up the matter for detailed discussion in the Corporationโs general meeting. The meeting was chaired by Rekha Hugar.
Members alleged that although the Bapat Galli parking lot has been taken over by the City Corporation, no tender was issued even after the previous contractorโs term ended, resulting in revenue losses for the past 15 months. Member Santosh Pednekar raised the issue, leading to a heated discussion.

Deputy Commissioner (Administration) Uday Kumar stated that responsibility lay with the then Deputy Commissioner of Revenue and revenue office staff. At present, Corporation employees are managing the parking lot, but members complained that monthly collections are only around โน60,000 to โน80,000, causing further losses.
Concerns were also raised that revenue staff being engaged in voter list verification is affecting routine work. It was suggested that staff attend office duties in the morning and carry out voter verification in the afternoon, while also ensuring proper house rent collection.
The committee finally decided to complain to the Urban Development Department and raise the issue in the general meeting. Parking issues at Club Road and College Road were also discussed.
