A meeting of Amannagar & Gandhi nagar residents was held to push for the construction of a flyover (road over Bridge) at the Gandhinagar railway gate, a long-pending demand due to increasing traffic disruptions. Belagavi North MLA Raju Seth was present and assured the attendees that the matter would be taken seriously.

With frequent railway gate closures—up to 20 times a day—due to the rising number of trains, daily commuters, especially residents of Amannagar, face severe inconvenience. Highlighting this, the residents urged immediate action, emphasizing the need for a flyover to ease traffic woes.

Meanwhile, the Railways has already planned RoB’s at the 2nd Gate in Tilakwadi, the Underpass at 4th Gate in Angol, and Gandhinagar. While work has started at some locations, opposition has emerged in Gandhinagar over concerns of waterlogging and impact on local businesses.

Corporator Azim Patwegar is leading the opposition to the flyover at Gandhinagar. He has raised concerns about space constraints on the 44-foot-wide road and the possibility of traders being affected. Some residents have also demanded that no walls be constructed along the sides of the bridge.

MLA Raju Sait has promised to take the matter up with Guardian Minister Satish Jarkiholi and DC Mohammad Roshan. Despite the opposition, Amannagar residents, including former corporator Faim Naikwadi and Ayub Zakati, have strongly supported the demand. The MLA responded positively, indicating that the project would be evaluated with all concerns in mind.
