Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today reaffirmed his government’s commitment to strengthening public healthcare by ensuring that every district in Karnataka will have a government medical college and a multi-specialty hospital.

“In government hospitals, it is largely the poor and middle class who seek treatment. Our goal is to provide them with the best healthcare facilities by building medical colleges and multi-specialty hospitals in every district,” the Chief Minister said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Super Specialty Hospital building at the Belagavi Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS), launching the residential quarters for house doctors, inaugurating the Belagavi City Bus Stand built by the North West Karnataka Road Transport Corporation under the Smart City project, and laying the foundation stone for new buildings at Rani Channamma University’s Hirebagevadi campus, including connecting road works from the National Highway.

The Chief Minister emphasized that building hospitals alone was not enough. “We will also appoint specialist doctors and fill vacant posts. Currently, doctors from Prabhakar Kore’s multi-specialty hospital are voluntarily serving free of cost in the government specialty hospital. I congratulate Kore for this initiative,” he added.

Highlighting the government’s focus on social justice, Siddaramaiah said, “Our programs are designed to bring the marginalized into the mainstream. Inspired by the ideals of Buddha, Basava, Gandhi, and Ambedkar, we are implementing welfare schemes to reduce inequality. True progress is possible only when development reaches the most deprived sections of society.”

The Chief Minister further noted that the guarantees introduced by his government have enhanced purchasing power, increased per capita income, and empowered women economically. “If the poor are financially empowered, we can erase caste-based discrimination and inequality,” he said.

On the issue of crop damage due to heavy rainfall, Siddaramaiah stated that nearly 10 lakh hectares of crops have been destroyed in eight districts following 95% excess rainfall. “We have acted swiftly to provide a record amount of compensation to farmers, growers, and cultivators,” he assured.
