After the attack on BJP leader Prithvi Singh, the Belagavi city police registered an FIR against Congress MLC Channaraj Hattiholi on Tuesday, despite initially dismissing the incident. The BJP leader was assaulted with a sharp-edged weapon near his residence in Hindalga, on the outskirts of Belagavi city.
This incident gained significant attention because Hattiholi is the brother of Karnataka Woman and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar. Furthermore, it occurred on the first day of the winter session of the state legislature.
The police filed the FIR against Hattiholi based on Prithvi Singh’s accusation that he, along with four others, had attacked him. The other individuals involved in the case are Hattiholi’s two gunmen and his assistants, Sadham and Sujit Jadhav, according to the police.

Prithvi Singh is an aide of BJP MLA Ramesh Jarkiholi. Immediately following the assault on the BJP leader, the state party president, Vijayendra Yediyurappa, visited him in the hospital where he was receiving treatment.
Vijayendra Yediyurappa accused Hattiholi and his associates of carrying out this heinous attack on Prithvi Singh.
