Three more individuals have been apprehended in connection with the gang rape of a minor girl that occurred within the jurisdiction of the Tilakwadi police station in Belagavi. This brings the total number of arrests in the case to five.
Among those recently arrested are the minor son of a CPI serving in another district, and Rohan Patil and Ashutosh Patil, who were operating the resort where the crime allegedly took place. Rohan Patil and Ashtosh Patil have been remanded to Hindalga jail. Investigations revealed they had rented a house for ₹20,000 per month and converted it into a resort. The CPI officer’s son has been placed in a remand home.
Earlier, police had arrested Saqib, identified as one of the main accused, and another minor.

The alleged gang rape of the 15-year-old girl reportedly occurred in the first week of May. Initial police reports indicate that a minor friend of the victim brought her to the location. The incident came to light when the girl returned home and her mother sought medical attention for her due to stomach pain. Following information from the hospital, a case was registered under the POCSO Act.
The case, which the Belagavi Market Police Station is handling, has triggered public outcry, with demands for a comprehensive investigation and strict punishment for the perpetrators.
