The proposed city flyover project will be taken forward only after seeking the views of citizens and various organisations, Belagavi Guardian Minister Satish Jarkiholi has said. A separate meeting has been scheduled on January 6 to gather suggestions and concerns from stakeholders before finalising the alignment and execution plan.
Speaking to officials, the minister said public consultation is essential for a project of this scale, as it directly impacts daily commuters, traders, institutions, and residents along the corridor. โThere will be another round of discussions. The opinions of citizens and organisations will be taken into account before proceeding further,โ he said.

The flyover project, which has already received Cabinet approval, is planned to be implemented in three phases:
- Phase 1: From National Highway near Sankam Hotel to Rani Channamma Circle
- Phase 2: From Rani Channamma Circle to Dharmaveer Sambhaji Maharaj Chowk
- Phase 3: Extension up to the Third Railway Gate
Officials informed that the phased approach will help manage traffic, address technical challenges at key junctions, and ensure smoother execution. The Guardian Minister reiterated that tenders will be invited only after the alignment and design are finalised, so that there are no changes or disputes once construction begins.
The administration has been instructed to compile inputs received during the January 6 meeting and place them before the government for consideration. The objective, the minister said, is to ensure that the flyover effectively reduces congestion while minimising inconvenience to the public.
With citizen consultation now formally planned, the flyover project has entered a crucial stage, where public feedback is expected to play a decisive role in shaping one of Belagaviโs most significant infrastructure works.
