The Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) observed black day the Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations on November 1 to protest against the inclusion of Marathi-dominated towns and villages in the State during the Reorganisation of States, even as the exercise was carried out on a linguistic basis.

However, the police have started suppressing the program organized by the MES at Maratha mandir. Police force was deployed at Maratha Mandir and activists were being obstructed at various places so that they dont make it to the venue.

Every year a rally is held however, this time the permission for the same was rejected on the grounds of the corona, but it has been decided to register a protest against the injustice done to Marathi speakers.

Police had barricaded all roads leading to the venue.
