Hubballi Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM) has announced a more stringent approach to disconnecting power for consumers who fail to pay their electricity bills within 30 days. Starting October 1, power disconnections will occur in the first week of the following month if bills remain unpaid.
Previously, after meter readings, HESCOM’s meter readers and linemen would visit consumers with outstanding payments within the first 15 days of each month to disconnect power. However, moving forward, linemen will now accompany meter readers during the initial visit itself. This means consumers with overdue bills will face immediate disconnection during that first visit, eliminating the need for a second visit.

Consumers are given a 15-day window to pay their bills without any interest. An additional 15-day grace period allows payment with interest. If the payment is still not made within this timeframe, HESCOM will disconnect the power as per Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) norms. This strict rule also applies to consumers who have failed to pay their additional security deposit.
