Implement Safe city project for Belagavi – Siddaramaiah

CM of Karnataka Siddaramaiah had a constructive meeting with the Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah in New Delhi and submitted a letter outlining Karnataka’s key demands for strengthening our state’s security and development.

The Chief minister of Karnataka put forth a proposal that Safe City Project (Total Rs.1000 Crores) In the lines of the Bengaluru City request to implement Safe City Project under Nirbhaya Fund, Safe City Project in the cities of Mysuru, Hubli-Dharwad, Mangaluru, Belagavi and Kalaburagi at cost of Rs.200 Crores for each city, amounting to a total of Rs.1000 Crores.

The Safe City project aims to create a safe, secure and empowering environment for women in public places, to enable them to pursue all opportunities without the threat of gender-based violence and/or harassment. It, further, aims to prevent and curb all forms of crimes against women and girl children in public places by providing safer urban infrastructure and efficient access to law enforcement agencies. The Empowered Committee under Nirbhaya fund has approved Safe City projects in 8 selected cities (Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Lucknow).
