Kiran Nippanikar, aged 47, passed away after a sudden cardiac arrest in Varanasi on February 27, leaving behind a legacy that few can match. He was more than just a contributor to All About Belgaum—he was its beating heart, a name more recognized than even its founder.

For AAB, Kiran was an iconic star, a storyteller who could turn an ordinary conversation into an extraordinary narrative. He had an unmatched knack for interviewing people—be it a renowned personality or an everyday hero—always laced with humor, wit, and thought-provoking insights. His podcast, where he candidly spoke about his life, remains a testament to his fearless authenticity.

During COVID-19, when uncertainty loomed, Kiran became the face of AAB. He took to live sessions daily, bringing doctors, experts, and changemakers to the forefront, ensuring people had access to the right information. He wasn’t just reporting—he was reassuring, guiding, and making people smile in the darkest of times.

Beyond journalism, he was a man of action. While many lamented deforestation, he found a solution—translocating 48 trees in Belagavi using sheer ingenuity and determination, achieving a rare 100% success rate. He was a problem solver, never one to accept “it can’t be done” as an answer.

Kiran was also a crusader—fearless in his fight against addiction, instrumental in pulling many out of the clutches of drugs and alcohol. He lived for others, never for himself. Be it education, school rebuilding, or medical aid, he extended his help not just to friends but also to strangers, treating them as if he had known them for years.

Always seen as the funny, carefree one, beneath his humor lay a man of deep emotions, unwavering principles, and immense strength. He masked his struggles with laughter, choosing to bring happiness to others rather than dwell on his own burdens.

With Kiran’s passing, Belagavi has lost a true son, AAB has lost its brightest voice, and we have lost a friend who gave endlessly without expecting anything in return. But his spirit—his kindness, his courage, and his humor—will forever remain with us.

Rest in peace, Kiran. Your stories will live on, your work will be remembered, and your laughter will echo in our hearts forever.
