At just 24 years old, Lt. Rohit Kudache, a proud son of Belagavi is among the youngest commanders leading his contingent in the Republic Day Parade. A member of the Garhwal Rifles Regiment, he dreams of winning the coveted Best Marching Contingent Trophy.

“Back in 2020, I participated as an NCC cadet, marching in the middle flank, barely visible. Today, leading my regiment and being seen by the entire world feels like a dream come true,” shared Lt. Kudache, who also represented BMS College of Engineering at the national level as an NCC cadet.

The Garhwal Rifles Regiment holds a unique place in the Indian Army, being a pure regiment comprised of soldiers from seven districts of Uttarakhand. Lt. Kudache proudly described his contingent, saying, “We call our soldiers the ‘Proud Bullards.’ About 20% of them have NCC backgrounds, and another 20% are second- or third-generation soldiers. The regiment is guided by six exceptional drill instructors with I-grade credentials, ensuring the highest standards of precision and discipline.”
