The Agricultural Marketing Department has delivered a major blow to the Jai Kisan Wholesale Vegetable Merchant Association in Belagavi. The APMC Director has ordered the immediate cancellation of the market’s operating license, citing serious violations of license terms and failure to safeguard farmers’ interests.
Following petitions from farmers’ organizations and multiple inspection reports by government-appointed officials, it was found that the license conditions were repeatedly disregarded by the licensee. Despite earlier appeals to Belgaum Municipal Corporation to maintain calm amid confusion over the land conversion order, the recent directive has further unsettled traders of the private Jai Kisan Bhaji Market.

Acting under Section 72-D of the Karnataka Agricultural Produce Market Business (Regulation and Development) Act, 1966, the APMC Director concluded that the licensee failed to fulfill their responsibilities. Consequently, the license to operate the private wholesale vegetable market has been cancelled with immediate effect.
