The ‘Jai Kisan Wholesale Vegetable Market Association’ has received relief from the High Court in its dispute with the Belagavi Urban Development Authority (BUDA). The court has directed the administration not to take any decision on the matter until the next hearing.

Speaking at a press conference at the Bhaji Market office, association members said that the vegetable market was established after fulfilling all government conditions. Since the Municipal Corporation had stated in writing that it had no land available for a vegetable market, the association took the initiative to purchase private land and set up the market as per rules.

The association highlighted that BUDA had earlier granted land conversion approval. However, a recent notice canceled that approval, raising questions despite the association submitting its reply within the given time. The association has challenged this order in the High Court, which has provided interim relief.

“The market strictly follows rules on pricing and weighing to protect farmers’ interests. Some individuals are deliberately creating obstacles and spreading misinformation, but we will continue our legal battle,” the association stated.

The traders also clarified that they are not opposed to the APMC market and urged farmers, traders, and citizens not to fall prey to fake news.

Present at the press conference were President Diwakar Patil, Vice President Mohan Mannolkar, Secretary Karim Bagwan, Adv. Sanjay Patil, Vishwanath Patil, M. M. Dhoni, and Corporator.
