The much-anticipated Karnataka State Social and Educational Survey, conducted under the guidance of the Backward Classes Commission, commenced on Monday (September 22). The launch took place at Vaddarawadi near Dharmanath Bhavan in Belagavi city, with Belagavi North MLA Asif (Raju) Sait initiating the process.
As part of the launch, the survey team visited the residence of Mallavva Gadivadara in Vaddarawadi and collected information on family members, education, Aadhaar numbers, voter IDs, and other key details.
Speaking on the occasion, MLA Asif Sait said the survey is being conducted by teachers from the Public Education Department along with officials from various government departments. He appealed to citizens to extend full cooperation by providing accurate information.

Belagavi District Collector Mohammad Roshan appreciated the efforts of HESCOM staff in assisting survey teams in locating households. He noted that each house has been allotted a unique UHID number and that the survey must be completed within 16 days. Surveyors, who have already undergone training, will conduct the work digitally. In areas with poor network connectivity, special arrangements will be made to carry out the process at nearby Gram Panchayats or government offices, he added.
Meanwhile, the launch also highlighted some technical hurdles. When enumerators, led by IAS probationer Abhinav Jain, attempted to begin the first survey at Abdul Gafar Shaikh’s residence in Camp, poor network connectivity disrupted the process. The team later shifted to Visvesvaraya Nagar, where the survey officially took off.
