This year’s Kittur Utsav will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Kittur Rani Channamma’s historic triumph over the East India Company. The four-day festivities will begin on October 22 and will be held across Kittur, Belagavi, and Kakati, Veer Rani Channamma’s birthplace.
The celebrations will kick off with a musical night at the District Stadium in Belagavi at 4 p.m. on October 22. Bollywood singer Kunal Ganjawala and his team, along with actor and music director Sadhu Kokila and the Z Saregama troupe, will perform, including traditional Kannada songs. Dance performances by teams led by Oxygen, Rekha Hegde, and Prakash Chandannanavar will also entertain the crowd.

On October 23, tributes to Rani Channamma will be paid with a garlanding ceremony at her statue in Kakati village, accompanied by a lecture from eminent writer Gurudevi Huleppanavarmath. The official inaugural event in Kittur at 7 p.m. will be graced by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, and other dignitaries.
