In a significant development following the court’s directive, 21.65 gunthas of land in Shahapur were officially handed back to the original owner, B.T. Patil, on Saturday (21st). This action comes as part of a Rs. 20 crore compensation case involving the Smart City Department, City Corporation which had previously acquired the land for road construction. The land transfer occurred smoothly under the supervision of the City Corporation Commissioner, the District Magistrate, and the Managing Director of the Smart City Project.
With the land now returned, the road constructed on the disputed area has been immediately closed to public traffic. The road, which connected Bank of India Corner to Old Dharwad Road, was a key route but has now been shut down.
The City Corporation had been under pressure to complete this process before the court-imposed deadline, with penalties in place for non-compliance.

As the situation progresses, commuters in the area will need to use alternative routes while the City Corporation evaluates further actions regarding traffic management and road reconstruction plans.
