The Belagavi Police Commissionerate has identified four new traffic black spots in and around the city as part of its ongoing campaign to reduce road accidents. These include accident-prone stretches and dangerous curves at Sambara, Marihal, and Kardiguddi, which have now been officially marked for urgent corrective measures.

Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse, in a press release, stated that a detailed report has been prepared in collaboration with experts from the Gogte Institute of Technology (GIT). The report will soon be submitted to the National Highways Authority and the Public Works Department for necessary improvements.

The stretch near Badekollamath on the Bagewadi route has recently seen a spike in accidents. In response, precautionary steps have already been taken, including enhanced monitoring and immediate accident-control measures.

As part of the study, officials reviewed road width, vehicle speed, traffic density, pedestrian issues, and past accident records. CCTV footage and feedback from local residents were also analyzed to create a comprehensive safety plan.

The Commissioner assured that with timely action by the authorities and cooperation from citizens, Belagavi can move closer to the goal of becoming an accident-free city.
