In a significant development for passengers from North Karnataka, the Ministry of Railways has confirmed plans to introduce a new train service between Bengaluru and Mumbai via Davangere, Hubballi, and Belagavi.
Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw conveyed this decision in a letter dated October 22, 2025, addressed to Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and New & Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi.
In response to Joshi’s letter dated October 16, 2025, seeking improved rail connectivity for public convenience, Vaishnaw confirmed that the introduction of the new train has been planned along this key route, benefitting commuters across several major Karnataka cities.
Meanwhile, Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar had also made a similar request to the Railway Ministry earlier, emphasizing the importance of better connectivity between Bengaluru and Mumbai through Belagavi, one of the fastest-growing urban centers in the region.

The proposed train is expected to enhance intercity travel and business connectivity, providing a crucial link between Karnataka and Maharashtra through the state’s western corridor.
Further details regarding the train schedule, frequency, and launch date are likely to be announced soon after final approvals and operational planning.

We proudly and wholeheartedly welcome this commendable initiative by Shri Ashwini Vaishnav ji, Hon’ble Minister for Railways. We are sincerely thankful to all the MPs and local representatives for their dedicated efforts in making this much-needed train service a reality.
In this regard, we humbly suggest that the authorities carefully review the timings of existing trains operating on this route and schedule the new train in a systematic and passenger-friendly manner. This will ensure that passengers from Belagavi, Hubballi, Dharwad, and Davanagere benefit from the new service without affecting the existing train operations.
