Farmers opposing the Halga Macche bypass road project met Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan on Tuesday, demanding an immediate halt to the ongoing work and seeking justice based on a High Court order and issues related to the projectโ€™s zero point.

During the meeting, the farmers submitted relevant court documents and urged the district administration to stop the work with immediate effect. Responding to the demands, the DC said the administration is fully aware of the court order, technical aspects, and legal implications of the bypass project.

He stated that the matter requires detailed consultation with legal advisers and requested more time, asking farmers not to impose a deadline on the administration. The DC assured that he had heard the farmersโ€™ concerns, discussed legal issues with their lawyers, and was committed to ensuring justice, but stressed that a decision cannot be taken without due legal process.

When farmers pressed for a specific timeline, the DC reiterated that adequate time must be given for legal examination. As no immediate assurance to stop the work was given, the meeting concluded without a resolution, leaving the farmers dissatisfied.
