Permanent Railway Gate Closure at Tanaji Galli

The South Western Railway has announced the permanent closure of the railway gate at Tanaji Galli Fulbag Galli Corner, effective from March 10. This decision follows the cancellation of the previously proposed railway overbridge at the site, which had faced significant opposition from local residents. A signboard has been installed at the location, informing the public about the closure.

With the closure of Level Crossing 386, traffic moving between Tanaji Galli and Fulbag Galli will now need to use alternative routes such as the old PB Road or the Kapileshwar flyover.

The incomplete service road on Old PB Road near Manikbag could create further traffic congestion, while narrow roads like Kapileshwar Temple Service Road and Shani Mandir Road might exacerbate the issue. Women from the Tanaji Galli and Mahadwar Road areas, who frequent the market, will now need to use the bridge to access the northern side of the city, potentially leading to a divided Belagavi. The closure may also result in an expanded auto market along Fort Road, extending from Rupali Cinema to Yediyurappa Road.

  1. Good decision. To whatever problems cited in the article are natural and railways had offered ROB which myopic public opposed! Did not care for overall fore sightedness! Railways have planned to get rid of all LCs & it’s correct! Same will follow with 1st,2nd & 4th LCs! They should do it fast! People interfering with roads in Cantt should advocate above ROBs at 3 LCs fast!
