Since 2022, the RPD corner next to IDBI Bank has had an open gutter, causing numerous accidents as citizens have fallen in, yet no action was taken. Recently, after a complaint made by the yuvasamitibgm handle on X (formerly Twitter), the Belagavi City Corporation (CCB) visited the site and issued its findings.
Ironically, the yuvasamitibgm complaint was about water stagnation at the next Bhagya Nagar Cross, but City Corporation engineers mistakenly inspected the RPD Cross instead. Their response was escalated to the OSDcmofkarnataka.
The CCB’s findings revealed that the Khanapur main road, now a concrete road with a drain constructed by the Public Works Department, is higher than the surrounding area, causing rainwater to stagnate due to a lack of proper drainage outlets. The CCB has reported that the stagnant water has been cleared.
Despite continuous complaints from the public, the problem persists. The CCB’s identification of the issue raises the question: will they take further steps to solve the problem, or do they consider identifying it sufficient?
