Belagavi MP Jagadish Shettar met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at the New MPs Office in New Delhi today. During the meeting, Shettar urged the Union Minister to approve the proposal for upgrading three key state highways in Belagavi district to national highways, along with improvements to a crucial four-lane road passing through Belagavi and Bagalkot districts.
Shettar submitted detailed proposals including:
- Jamboti to Rabkavi (State Highway 54)
- Raichur to Bachi (State Highway 20) – with a request to upgrade the stretch between KM 348.30 and KM 355.18 in Belagavi Taluka from two-lane to four-lane
- A comprehensive upgrade of the 60 km four-lane route from Sankeshwar – Hukkeri – Ghataprabha – Gokak – Manolli – Saundatti – Dharwad.

He informed that the estimated total cost of the proposed projects is around ₹1,775 crore, and their execution would significantly reduce traffic congestion and road accidents in the region.
Union Minister Nitin Gadkari assured that due consideration would be given to Shettar’s suggestions.
