Health and Family Welfare Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao announced that stringent measures will be taken against fake doctor clinics across the state under the provisions of the K.P.M.E. Amendment Act.

Responding to a question by member Govinda Raju in the Legislative Council, the Minister explained the procedure for establishing legitimate clinics. According to Section 5 of the K.P.M.E. Amendment Act, 2017, private medical institutions must apply for registration and obtain a K.P.M.E. Registration Certificate to operate legally.

To combat violations, a district-level Registration and Grievance Authority has been established under Section 4 of the K.P.M.E. Act, 2007. The Deputy Commissioner chairs this committee and includes the District Health and Family Welfare Officer as Member Secretary. Other members include the District AYUSH Officer, a representative from the Indian Medical Association, and a woman representative.
