The Belagavi City Corporation’s South Division office, at Govaves complex responsible for Ward No. 1 to 26, experienced a shocking theft incident on Monday morning. At around 10:30 AM, staff members entering the office discovered a chaotic scene with important documents disturbed and scattered throughout the room. Additionally, a laptop was reported stolen.

This unsettling discovery led to a delay in the employees starting their workday, as they had to remain outside the office since the break-in was still under investigation. This marks the second theft incident in the same office within six months, raising serious concerns about security.

Initial reports suggest that the thieves gained entry through a window located beside the main door, taking advantage of the early morning hours to carry out their theft. The Tilakwadi police were promptly notified and arrived at the scene shortly after the incident was reported. Officers collected information, reviewed CCTV footage, and launched a thorough investigation into the matter.

The February 19, 2024, incident saw thieves steal four laptops, each containing crucial documents, from the same office. This repeated targeting of the South Division office highlights a pressing need for enhanced security measures to protect valuable municipal documents and equipment.

Meanwhile, the Tilakwadi police are actively pursuing leads to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for these thefts.
