In a crackdown on unauthorised entry, the Hubballi division of the South Western Railway has booked 21 tourists for walking along the railway tracks near the scenic Dudhsagar Waterfall, despite a ban being in place. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) registered cases under Section 147 of the Railway Act, which pertains to trespassing on railway property.

The action was taken by RPF personnel at Castle Rock as part of a special drive to curb illegal entry into restricted railway areas. All 21 individuals were detained, later released on bail, and directed to appear before the Special Judicial Magistrate (Railways) in Hubballi for further proceedings and to pay fines.

With waterfalls in full flow across the Belagavi region, Dudhsagar remains a popular tourist destination. However, officials have reiterated that trekking on the railway tracks, especially in the Castle Rock–Dudhsagar section, is strictly prohibited due to safety concerns. The route poses multiple hazards, including dark tunnels, deep gorges, and the presence of wild animals.

The RPF has reminded the public that several tragic incidents have occurred in the past due to such unauthorized treks. Tourists have once again been strongly advised against using the railway tracks to reach Dudhsagar Falls. Strict surveillance is being maintained to prevent future violations.
