With the Election Commission of India expected to announce a Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls in Karnataka soon, preparatory work has already begun across the state. As part of this exercise, voter list mapping is being carried out to improve the accuracy and transparency of the electoral rolls in Belagavi.
The current process involves linking the 2002 electoral roll with the 2025 voter list. If a voterโs name does not appear in the 2002 roll, their details can still be mapped using the part number and serial number of their father, mother, grandfather, or grandmother from the 2002 records.
Citizens who were registered voters in 2002 are requested to share the Assembly constituency name or number, part number, and serial number of their earlier registration with the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO).
Those who were not voters in 2002 should instead provide similar details of their parents or grandparents who were registered voters at that time.

Voters can independently search for names in the 2002 electoral roll on the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer Karnataka.
65% Voter List Mapping Completed in Belagavi District
In Belagavi district, voter list mapping has reached 65.42% completion. Out of 41,85,019 voters across 18 Assembly constituencies, the details of 27,37,666 voters have been successfully mapped. Mapping for about 14.47 lakh voters is still pending.
However, BLOs have reported difficulties, particularly in urban areas of Belagavi city, where addresses are hard to trace, family members are living abroad or in other states, or voter photographs are unclear or too small.
The mapping process is being conducted through door-to-door verification, especially in cases where voter details do not match the 2025 electoral roll. Authorities have urged citizens to cooperate fully with BLOs and provide accurate information, warning that incorrect or insufficient details could lead to deletion of names from the voter list.
Focus on Voters Above 40 Years
Of the total voters in the district, 22.68 lakh voters are above the age of 40. Mapping has already been completed for 16.21 lakh voters in this age group, while verification of the remaining voters is currently in progress.
