A shooting incident at the Union Gymkhana Club on Tuesday night created panic in the area, with preliminary reports suggesting an attempted murder.
According to initial information, a man identified as Suresh was playing rummy at the club when a group of five persons arrived at the spot. While two of them allegedly waited outside, three entered the premises and attempted to attack him.
One of the accused reportedly pointed a gun at Suresh’s head and tried to fire. However, Suresh managed to escape by pushing the assailant away and fleeing from the spot. The accused then allegedly came outside and fired two rounds into the air before escaping.
Following the incident, Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse visited the Union Gymkhana Club and inspected the scene. A forensic team examined the spot and began collecting evidence as part of the investigation.
Suresh reached the location after police personnel had arrived. He was taken into custody for questioning and later brought to the police station as officials continued their inquiry.
