Motorists flouting traffic rules across Belagavi district are now under the watch of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered surveillance cameras. In just 42 days, the AI-based traffic enforcement system has detected a staggering 233,892 traffic violations, leading to the collection of more than โ‚น5 crore in fines, according to Belagavi Superintendent of Police K. Ramrajan.

The AI cameras, installed at major junctions in taluk headquarters across the district, have been deployed to improve road safety, enforce traffic discipline, reduce accidents, and ensure continuous monitoring of violations. Operating round the clock, the cameras are monitoring traffic at busy intersections in towns including Bailhongal and Athani, making it increasingly difficult for violators to evade penalties.
