The access road to Sambra Airport will be widened into a four-lane road, with the district administration set to expedite land acquisition for the project.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan said ₹10 crore is available with the district administration for land acquisition, and road-widening work will begin after the process is completed.
The administration has also initiated the process of acquiring additional land for the expansion of Sambra Airport, with a survey currently underway.
The four-laning of the access road has been planned in view of the airport’s future requirements, expected increase in traffic and the growing industrial activity in the surrounding region. Land required for the project will be acquired and landowners compensated as per the applicable rules.
The road from the airport to Nilji has already been widened, while work on the remaining stretch is expected to begin soon. The upgraded road is expected to improve airport connectivity and support industrial and economic growth in the Sambra area.
